We've all heard the phrase "trust the process" or have been told that one has to trust and believe in God's plan even though one has no certainty of where the plan may lead. Trusting the process is about believing that things will work out fine and not feeling down or anxious about it. The act and feeling of "trusting the process" can be applied in various parts of life from work to school, business to faith, and self growth to relationship building with others.

Trusting God's plan can be easier said than done. Someone can want something so badly and be driven by determination and achievement so much that those are the only things they think about. Another example is a person who is stopped or defeated by fear, hurt, pain, self-doubt or nervousness when things are out of their control. The process is about trusting the things that happen outside of one's control and not being obsessed with desired results.

Trusting God's plan isn't something that's always visual/physical to people, it can be emotional, spiritual, and mental. Personally, I am a "see it to believe it" person. After several talks with Dre, I've discovered that my realist personality or my need to always have "physical manifestations" can express doubt, hurt someone's feelings, and can be viewed as me being impatient when I want to see results. However, my determination to make things happen combined with me being able to physically see my growth/achievements is important to me. I do need to work on the "emotional manifestations" part, which I am learning to do.

Sometimes God's plan can be examples of faith, believing in something greater or beyond the stressors or chaos in your life. God's plan can be examples of opportunities, something saving you or blessing you when you feel overwhelmed or deserving of something.

God's plan can be examples of irony or the unknown. Let's say you pray good and long for something to manifest in your life and it doesn't come exactly when you want it, but it arrives when you need it. Let's say you've always wanted something good to happen for you or to you, and somewhere down the line, you feel an indescribable positive feeling you never knew you could feel about someone or something.

"Trusting the process" take a lot of time and effort, even after mistakes or stubborn or fear. Trusting the process can lead you to feelings of happiness, vulnerability, commitment, new opportunities, a new job, a new partner, a new home, a new interest, a new path, etc.

It's about letting go of the control and expectations you feel you have in your life or the things that happen in it and it involves patience, trust, and faith. This process can be scary because you're allowing yourself to fly by the seat of your pants, you're not limiting yourself in any way, and it can lead to something great that you never thought possible for yourself.

Here's what I've learned about"trusting the process":

  • There's always a lesson to be learned, good things will happen outside of the chaos

  • You'll be more calm and relaxed instead of anxious or obsessive

  • You'll become more patient, let things be and good will come to you

  • You'll become more resilient, chaos won't break you or scare you, it's temporary

  • You'll learn to adapt to change, change is inevitable even if you don't like it

  • It'll teach you gratefulness, focus on all you have instead of things you don't

  • You'll appreciate timing, all good things take time

  • Give yourself and others some grace, don't be so hard on yourself or others
