I've had several conversations with Dre about practicing self care through skincare routines. What does he do? Most likely he washes his face with his 3-in-1 shower gel or whatever 2-in-1 face + body bar he can find.

I asked him a few days ago if he knew his skin type and if he's washing his face twice a day and moisturizing... and he told me no. Personally, every time I see him, sections of his face are dry, but his T zone is oily.

Knowing his everyday, fast-paced and easy routine, taking care of his skin isn't one of them. Using good quality products designed for combination skin is important and products without a strong fragrance.

For men, they want things to be easy, quick, and simple so here are some easy skin care steps for men dealing with combination skin.

  1. Wash your face day and night to remove oil, dirt and bacteria from your face

  2. Wet face with warm water to open pores

  3. Rub face wash on in a circular motion

  4. Rinse face with cold water to close pores

  5. Pat face dry

  6. Use a face scrub 1-3 times a week, no more than once a day (repeat steps 2-4)

  7. Moisturize twice a day with an oil-free product

I remember sharing my exfoliation and face mask tips with Dre as well. I shared tips so much with him that he bought a face scrub and used it without me having to tell him. I was so surprised when I discovered he'd been listening to me and taking care of his skin on his own.

Not many men wash their face correctly, they don't use the right products nor take the time out to perform extra steps.

Men can use a face scrub! Adding a face scrub to your routine simply helps restore your skin by removing dead/dirty skin cells and getting rid of oil buildup and preventing breakouts. If the T zone is your main problem area, you can just apply the scrub there.

Exfoliating can be used before shaving your face to help prevent ingrown hairs or razor bumps. Exfoliating can also be used on the entire face (forehead, nose, cheeks, chin and neck) or just on the shave areas. Don't overuse a face scrub, you might suffer from redness, irritation, dryness or broken skin.

Lastly, MOISTURIZE your entire face twice a day. This is something Dre still fails to do if I don't make him when I'm around him.

Moisturizing for men is a very important step like it is for women. Keeping your face hydrated prevents dry patches, dry flakes, cracked skin and offers various benefits such as healthier looking skin, glowing skin, and a youthful look. No one should ever miss this step!

Some quick and easy moisturizers I've seen men use are Vaseline, Coconut Oil, body lotion, Shea Butter, Baby Oil or simply nothing.

If you have combination skin, using something too oily is horrible for your skin, it can cause excessive oil production and breakouts. Using an oil free moisturizer is best because it won't add oil on top of an already oily T zone and it'll treat the dry areas on the face as well.

Doing these quick and easy steps can help treat combination skin and reveal healthier looking skin. Thank me later guys!
